How to get better at controlling your car
To get good at controlling the car and quickly get around obstacles, players should work on the following key driving skills:
Slow down before going around a corner.
Going too fast into a turn is a common reason why a drift doesn't work. This means you have to do too many things at once to keep the car on the track.
Instead, slow down enough before the turn, and then start drifting when the car is in the best position. As you get better at each track, you can slowly speed up to lower your lap times while still staying in control.
Keep the drift angle steady instead of just speeding up.
Starting at top speed isn't always necessary for a good slide. Before starting the slide, change your speed and direction as you get close to a turn.
As soon as the car starts to lose its grip and slide, make small changes to the steering to keep it on track. If the car is spinning too fast, backing off on the controls will help it get back to a stable position instead of trying to keep the drift going for longer.
The important thing is to find the best balance between speed and slip angle. A short, clean, and well-directed slide works better than a long drift that can't be stopped.
